Abstract

Through the High Atlas and its beautiful scenery, the “Road of the thousand kasbahs” will lead you into valleys and regions with undeniable Saharan atmosphere. Built in adobe, the kasbahs are grouped in the same village to form a Ksar (plural : Ksour). True architectural Jewels, the kasbahs take the color of their homeland which changes from tan to red, making them different from each other. The Dades and Todgha gorges offer the most beautiful samples of this remarkable earth architecture. In this purely desert setting, there is the palm field of Skoura, a real haven which offers the travellers a peaceful refuge and protection from the sun rays in the shade of its palm and olive trees.
