- were loaded with coffee bags, the tools for preparation.

- The Moroccan pilgrims who arrived from the Holy Lands were those who had made Moroccans discover this new beverage,

- among the experiences of this movement were coffee tasting

- and the discovering of the rituals of preparation,

- and that is how trips to Mecca contributed to the emergence of this new product.

- Among the most famous people who dealt with the topic of coffee in their books was the Imam of great travelers of the time, Abou Salim Al-Ayyachi.

- He left behind his book Travels on the Lands of Lights, some descriptions of coffees he encountered while he travelled,

- and the conditions of spreading of coffee in the Hejaz by the Sufi orders

- and the scientists’ position who lived at that time, towards consumption of coffee, between those who allowed it and those who forbad it.

- Abou Salem Al-Ayyachi who was buried in the Middle Atlas is considered

- to be the sheikh of the great Moroccan travelers and their example.

- He presented coffee in a realistic way, and he said that it is neither food, nor a beverage nor a type of a medicine

- but something else that was invented by the scientists of Sufism.

- It is important to say that our sheikh discovered this beverage in the alleys of Cairo

- at Muez Eddine’s time, in an old suburb close to the Al-Azhar mosque,

- where he noticed that the Egyptians gave it to their guests as a sign of hospitality.

- His speech was really moving, maybe because he made an address to his brothers on Morocco,

- so that they wouldn’t bother honoring their guests.

- Abi Salem Al-Ayyachi’s trip back from the East was difficult and tiresome.

- He crossed many places such as the Arabic Peninsula, Egypt,

- West Tripoli and the desert of Lybia to reach Sijilmassa and Fes.

- Coffee spread in Fes as soon as the Moroccans discovered it, Al-Qaraouiyine School,

- the streets and the alleys of Fes were the first places that consummated coffee.

- According to travel books, this beverage was of the taste of artisans and Sufis in the zauia,

- where they used to gather to drink glasses of coffee during their practices and their invocations.
