To preserve our environment is also to preserve our heritage. Throughout history, Moroccans had a form of engineering by inventing an intelligent system to collect and distribute water : " the khattarat ", a sort of old mains found in the country, a kind of underground galleries that convey water from the phreatic underground to the villages and farmlands of arid regions. Today, many of these "kherratat" and in dager of decay and disappearance. In the region of Tafilalet, the preservation and the restoration of this architectural heritage is under way, thanks to international assistance.Type
