Abstract

The movement of the Daqqa (word meaning "knock") is part of the folk art in Marrakech , this is a part of the Marrakechi identity . The daqqa is heard in important religious ceremonies like the first day of the Muslim year or in Ashura's carnival . That rhythm starts slowly, then accelerates to the image of a rate imposed. The dance is rooted in the spiritual and is intensified with trance.
