Abstract

Magdy Madkour, Head of Biotechnology, Arid Lands Agricultural Research Institute, Ain Shams University-Egypt, is talking about the Encyclopedia of Life (EOL) project. On the 14th of December 2009, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina became a partner in the Encyclopedia of Life project .Dr Ismail Serageldin signed an MOU with James L. Edwards, Executive Director Encyclopedia of Life, National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution. The Encyclopedia of Life (EOL) is a free, online collaborative encyclopedia intended to document all of the 1.8 million living species known to science. It is compiled from existing databases and from contributions by experts and non-experts throughout the world. The project aims at documenting and listing all species present in the Arab region.
