Abstract

Hoda Elmikaty, opens up the lecture and invites Dr. Ismail Serageldin, director of Bibliotheca Alexandrina, to start his lecture entitled "Women in science". He shed a light on women’s achievements, and success stories in different fields and salute many women leaders in sciences who left their mark on many institutions as for example (Agnodice, Cleopatre, and Hypatia ). He also refers to Marie Curie, first woman to win the Nobel prize in 1903 in physics, and Gerty Cori, first woman to win Nobel Prize in sciences. The lecture deals with the impediments that may still exist on women path for freedom and equality too.
