Abstract

The Institute for peace studies and Greenpeace international held a joint one day seminar to discuss "steps towards a Middle East nuclear free zone". The seminar brought together a group of international and Egyptian experts on nuclear energy and weapons, to give their professional opinion on the issue. The main aim of this gathering was to stress the dangers related to the proliferation of nuclear arms and to encourage dialogue on all levels about how to increase security in the region. The ambassador Ali Maher gives some remarks about the necessity of searching alternatives and renewable sources for energy and approve the peaceful uses of nuclear energy in Egypt.
