Abstract

“Miramar”, is a story written by Naguib Mahfoud and presented in four parts. It talks about our reality in the early 21 st century, the events happen in the genuine Alexandria and the forces challenging it. The heroine of the story is Zahra, a young beautiful farmer who symbolizes Egypt. The events of the story in a pension in Alexandria, managed by a Greek lady and where many characters live : Amer Beck ( a retired journalist), Sarhane ( the opportunist youngster) who promised to marry Zahra, who fled her village because she refused a forced marriage with an old rich man. But as she is the model of the Egyptian woman having a strong personality, she fled to Alexandria and found refuge in Miramar pension.
