- We talked about history of Egyptian modern art and about this book written by Doctor Mustapha Al-Razzaz, published by the Ministry of Culture,

- and that contains an historical presentation of various art movements and famous artists.

- Today we’re going to talk about Egyptian modern art in the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century

- with the help of the same series but I’d like first to present you more books dealing with the same topic,

- .

- as for instance Overview of Egyptian art in the 20th century, that brings together hundred works of hundred artists that Alexandria library

- exhibited with explanations and historical contextualization. Here we have a series of publications

- about comparison between Art and Haiku or poetry of all types, and here we have translations of Haiku classics,

- a Japanese kind of poetry, that the great professor Adli reproduced in several of his paintings.

- Here we have works of Adli Rezek-Allah, he also writes for youth

- and explains to children in his Tales, Hikayat, how they can be initiated to art,

- what are artists and colors, and in other very nice books for children he explains how to enter for the first time in the cultural universe of sciences and how to express them.

- There are also other books from Adli Rezek-Allah that are not published yet, as How you see and Village of an artist and his paintings.

- These two books are going to be published in the series “Read read read and learn” from the Art library of Adli,

- and it’s partly his art work that we’ll invite in the Egyptian library of contemporary arts.

- On the other hand we have Ismat Daousatchi who wrote this book History of Alexandria’s workshop,

- writers and artists from 1934 to 2004,

- it contains a very good account of artists and their works. Also we have an important number of books

- available for those who look for accounts exclusively about famous artists. We can cite for instance the magnificent and deceased artist Salah Taher,

- who honoured us in attending, him and the other great deceased artist Nadjib Mahfoudh, the opening ceremony entitled

- “The brush and the quill” where they were publicly recognized. A great exhibition has also been organized for Salah Taher, and this catalogue is the exhibition’s one.

- And finally, we should not forget the role of the critic, because he is very important and also the magazine’s editor-in-chief,

- his work doesn’t only consist in publishing critiques, but it also consists in presenting what is done. So here we have the “Egyptian arts” magazine,

- edited by the great professor Mounir Amer.

- He will be one of the guests with who we’ll discuss about the magazine regularly.

- It’s a precious magazine that brings a great wealth to the art scene and the Egyptian contemporary culture.
