Abstract

The work of the artist Mahmoud Said is considered as one of the main pillars in the building of modern art in Egypt since the beginning of this century. M. Said has dealt with many topics and issues through his art by highlighting the Egyptian's patriotism and symbols. He gave a great importance to women whose existence symbolizes the national identity. Especially after their participation in the revolution of 1919. Mahmoud Said was born in Alexandria, April 1897. His father Mohamed Bacha Said, was the Prime Minister of Egypt at that time. When he graduated in 1919 (French law), his father agreed to send him to Paris to study for one year. He visited most of Europe’s museums and studied in Julian’s private school in Paris. He married Samiha Riad and had children . The family is presented in many of his paintings.
