Abstract

To mark the centenary of the founding of the Académie Goncourt, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina wishes to express its commitment to the Francophonie, welcoming its president, Edmonde Charles-Roux and several of its members and award winners the prize that it awards. This is to show the public the history and peculiarities of the Academy and the award that bears its name. Edmonde Charles-Roux talks about the relationship between the two brothers and the influence of the death of the younger brother on the older one. It also mentions the creation of the Goncourt Literary Society . Finally, it is about women's place in the Académie Goncourt.
