Abstract

Before the Turkish Invasion of 1974, Famagusta was famous for the Orange Festival organized in the town every year. The film features authentic scenes of the Orange Festival held in Famagusta in March 1971 and the celebrations that followed the event which lasted four days. Orange harvest - Panoramic view of Famagusta, windmills, hotels - Speech of the Archbishop Makarios at the festival - Festivities - dancing and music groups, revels and parades of chariots decorated with oranges invade the streets of Famagusta - Distinguished guests and ordinary people express their impressions concerning the festival - People celebrating the event in nightclubs of Famagusta - The "Orange Queen" beauty contest.
