Abstract

Algeria, land of pirates for some, home of masterpieces for others. Miguel De Cervantes Saavedra (1547-1616), novelist, poet and playwright, father of the Spanish literature, was a slave for five years in Algeria, which allowed him to experience the culture, the generosity and simplicity of its people, a truth he expressed in his writings during his detention, as Don Quixote De La Mancha. Interviews with Waciny Laredj, writer ; Louis Roujour Radrigès, Director of studies at the Cervantes Institute ; Domingo Garcia Kando, Director of the Cervantes Institute ; Abdelaziz Bouchfirat, writer ; Father André Tessier,former Bishop of Algiers.
