Abstract

Historical epic about the struggle of Sheikh Bouamama (1833-1908). Sheikh Bouamama was both a historical figure, a recognized fighter and a mystic character of southwestern Algeria. He belonged to the branch of Ouled Sidi Cheikh and was nicknamed “Bouamama”, after the typical turban he always wore. As a skillful leader, he led the resistance against colonialism in Algeria from 1881 to 1908 and participated into numerous battles in the tradition of people like Emir Abdelkader and Sheikh El Mokrani, who have all devoted their life to the armed struggle for a free Algeria.
