Abstract

Ahmed Wahby is the co-founder with Blaoui Houari of the musical genre “El Asri”(modern). Born in Oran in the 40’s, this genre was influenced by the great Egyptian masters of Arabic music. Taking its inspiration from the East, in terms of style, it uses the typical Oran rhythms and poetic language. Ahmed Wahby will find his call as a singer through the Scouting network, especially with the Oran scout group “En Najah”, created in 1937, which he is part of with Hamou Boutlelis and Kada Mazouni. His talent is revealed during the long evenings in the forest of Misserguine, as he took up Abdelwahab’ s repertoire. “Fat eli fat” is one of his biggest hits.
