Abstract

Sheikh Dahmane Benachour, called ' the nightingale of the Algerian music', has dedicated his life to the preservation of a musical authentic heritage for future generations. His contribution to the preservation of traditional music has been invaluable. Born into a poor family, Sheikh Dahmane Benachour was born March 11, 1912 in Blida. First he learned the Koran and then deepened his knowledge of the principles of Arabic. His artistic vocation has grown from an early age thanks to his prodigious memory and his musical ear. Dahmane Benachour performs in this recital:'El lawzou fateh', 'Ah ya kamil El maani', 'Dheba kalbi be h’ wakom', '"dhaba djismi bedjmar el Wahshe', and 'Kheil alikom'.
