Abstract

The Emir Abdelkader was one of the greatest statesmen in the history of contemporary Algeria. He is the founder o the modern Algerian state and the leader of resistance against French colonialism between 1832 and 1847. He was also one of the greatest men of Sufism, poetry and theology, and above all, he was an apostle of peace and brotherhood among different races and religions.
