Abstract

This is an unfamiliar story, that of the white lighthouses of the Black Sea. In Turkey, these lighthouses were born from the imagination of one man, a French, named Michel Pacha. In the nineteenth century, Michel Pacha, whose real name was Marius Michel, was Captain on behalf of the Messageries Maritimes and sailed in the East. Following a shipwreck, he designed a lighting system for the Black Sea coast.
