Assessment of the pollutions the sea may be victim of and illustrations of the irreversible harm on the Mediterranean. Pollution creates a real transformation of the sea bed. Although nature adapts, the effects are quite destructive; degradation is more important along the coast, partly because of urbanization with the ports. Professor Molinier explains that the sea grass beds are threatened. Alexander Meinesz, researcher at the University of Nice, warns against urbanization and embanking, and found that vegetation, refuge for several animal species, is decaying. According to Commander Cousteau, fertile areas of the sea are reduced and threatened by dredging and fishing.Type
