Film devoted to Moulay Idriss, a Moroccan city that houses the shrine of Idriss I, the founder of the Idrissid dynasty. Moulay Idriss is perched on a rocky peg overlooking the valley of Oued Erroumane, in the hollow of two hills, a few kilometers from the ancient Roman city of Volubilis. In this holy city built around the tomb of Idriss I, life flows peacefully month after month, and comes to life only in August when the Moussem takes place. Then, pilgrims come from everywhere, on foot, by donkey, horse or coach. They set up tents on the hillsides surrounding Moulay Idriss, and, every day, they cross the beam that separates them from the sacred city, forbidden to non-Muslims.Type
