Abstract

In 1964, Aimé and Marguerite Maeght created a private foundation to present modern and contemporary art in all its forms. Located on the hills of Saint Paul de Vence, the Maeght Foundation was designed by the architect Josep Lluis Sert, with the collaboration of painters and sculptors. This film includes a portrait of Aimé and Marguerite Maeght, the story of their meeting, the creation of their galleries and of the Foundation, and mostly their relationship with exceptional artists. Through their memories, confidences, photos and films from their own archives, they talk about the painters ans sculptors they have met and welcomed home, as Henri Matisse, Alberto Giacometti, Pierre Bonnard, Georges Braque and Marc Chagall.
