Issue presented by Pierre Sipriot about the "Seven Sleepers of Ephesus" "and their worship in the world. Robert Amadou, editor of the magazine " The St Jacques Tower "", recalls the story of the seven sleepers of Ephesus, known in the East, that has a mystical significance both in the Christian and Islamic tradition. - At 7'35" Monseigneur Nasrallah, rector of St. Julien the Poor, discusses the origins of this legend. - At 13'42 " Louis Massignon, honorary professor at the College de France, speaks of Surat 18 of the Koran which tells the story of the seven martyrs. He talks about the theory of the resurrection in the Koran, the names of the seven sleepers having a prophylactic value. He speaks of the many mosques and churches in the world that commemorate the history of the seven sleepers. - At 18'37 " Rene Louis, Professor at the Faculty of Literature of Caen, talks about the importance of the seven sleepers in the Song of Roland. He explains how this legend came into Britain.Type
