The second part of the program devoted to land, deals with the fragility of the Mediterranean soil, the traditional methods of cultivating the soil, the habitat of dry stones, and the enhancing of agriculture in the plains that gave birth to the villas like here, in Sicily. The latifundiae ranching is a survival of an economy owned by large landowners. Another traditional activity of the Mediterranean world is the transhumance, which, for centuries, has connected the plains and the mountains, as well as the traditional agricultural triptych: vine, olive, wheat.Type
