Abstract

Presentation of the Punic city of Carthage, Tunisia, destroyed in 146 BC. and its story by George Fradier, former director of the Tunis-Carthage project of UNESCO, on images of this ancient city. These remains are threatened by urbanization of the modern city that has become a suburb of Tunis. At the call of UNESCO and the Tunisian government, several missions carry out excavations. On-site meeting with Serge Lancel from the French Mission, who recalls the story of Dido, the founder of Carthage. The British project manager speaks about the history of the Punic ports, while the Italian project manager talks about his research of the layout of ancient roads, working with an Italian academic who conducts excavations in a cemetery. Finally, Abdelmajid Ennabli, curator of the museum and the site of Carthage, explains the ongoing work on the site to create spaces for visitors.
