Abstract

Presentation of the historic period in which the railway was established linking the Red Sea and Damascus under the Ottoman reign in the Levant . Its development until it reached Hijaz. The great number of workers who contributed to the realization of the railway. (military and civilian workers). Its role and importance for military purposes as well as for civilians especially the pilgrims' transportation from Constantinople to Hijaz.
