Abstract

The episode is about El Aqsa mosque and the Islamic art which progressed significantly during the Ummeyad era. Art and artists were backed by the Sultans to reach the Islamic constructions.This can be noticed in the architecture of the mosques, especially that of El-Aqsa mosque. Later, the Ummeyad adopted the style of El Aqsa to build worship buildings. It consists of the importance of the minaret, the Mihrab, the courtyard, the gallery and the pulpit. The size of the mosque depends on that of the population, it should be built in the centre of the city and decorated both inside and outside. The Ummeyad are the first to devise the Minarets in Islam, they created the high minaret instead of the square one. The episode introduces every part of El Aqsa mosque and its importance for worshipers. The Arabic calligraphy is used to write verses on the walls, decorated with geometric shapes. The special pulpit of Salahuddine is also introduced in this episode.
