Abstract

The Roman city of Jerash was built in the period between the first and the fourth century. It is located north of Jordan and was discovered in 1806. Its history is part of a great civilization, what remains from the city is : a temple called the Artimus temple, colonnades of Zeus' temple and the nymphs’ path. The visitors can enjoy the main square and have access to the southern amphitheatre where cultural festivals have been held since 1981. The festival of Jerash for culture and arts is held every year in july under the patronage of her Majesty the Queen, Noor Al Hussein.
