Abstract

The episode describes, the Omeyade mosque in Damascus. It supplies details on the huge minarets. The eastern minaret, built on an old temple, appears as a tower, whereas the western one is characterized by its colors (red, yellow and black), in addition to Omar's gate that leads to Damascus districts and the old markets. The episode introduces the most beautiful minaret called the" bride's minaret". It is said to be built by one of the wealthy brides. Not far from it, is a perfectly decorated dome which shows the thriving Islamic conquests during the Omeyade era. The Omeyade mosque was a place of worship, science and knowledge.
