Abstract

Ginostra is a small village located in the southeast of Stromboli island. A shuttle service is in charge of its supply and the transfer of persons from the tiny port and the offshore ships. This means of transport is named " rollo", after the rowing boats that were once used and pitched dangerously when the sea was rough. The villagers are often isolated in winter because of the bad weather conditions.
