Abstract

Documentary on the history of the Certoza of Pavia (Lombardy), founded in 1396 by the Duke of Milan Gian Galeazzo Visconti, and consecrated in 1497. Evocation of the many artists who participated in its construction and decoration and various features of its architecture: the structure, ornaments, sculptures, reliefs, frescoes and paintings. Evocation of the life of the monks who inhabited the monastery. Other architectural descriptions on the outside, the nave, the cross vaults,the cloister, the cemetery, sculptures, sarcophagi of Ludovico il Moro, Beatrice d'Este and Gian Galeazzo Visconti, the wooden choir, the stained glass windows and the carved altars. Some Cistercian monks are working on the restoration of ancient texts.
