Abstract

The village of Montignoso, in the province of Massa Carrara, has many traditions associated with the feast of Epiphany. The procession of witches, during which the locals dress up and hide themselves, is one of those typical celebrations. The comedian Giorgio Panariello, dressed as a witch, speaks the dialect of the region. Panariello Anna, his aunt, prepares a traditional cake made from chestnut flour and pine nuts.
