Abstract

The Ashura festival takes place on the 10th of Moharam. It celebrates two events one religious, the other historical. As recommended by Islam, the Muslim must perform on the day of Ashura, the Zakate, obligatory contribution to help the poor. The celebration of Ashura is also a day of mourning for the martyrdom of Ali. It is also for children the feast par excellence where toys and sweets are offered to them. The celebration is a noisy procession, people roam the streets, giving concerts of drums. After the festival of Ashura, bonfines are lit in a festive and enjoyable day .
