Abstract

Sidi SHIKER: the Shrine of Sidi SHIKER was considered as the cradle of the Sufi gathering in the first centuries of the history of Islam in Morocco. It is located in the territory of the large tribe known as Rakraka in the province of Asfi. Sidi SHIKER is one of the companions of OkbaIbn Nafee El FehriI, the great conqueror of the Maghreb. He caught a disease while travelling with Okba from Sousse, died and was buried in this spot. Years ago, some Moroccan historians gathered information written in ancient translation books concerning the meetings which were held there. These meetings were of great interest to the followers of the Sufi doctrine who used to come from all regions of Morocco to meet and exchange views about the doctrines of the masters and their methods in mystical education and moral behavior, as well as to study the writings approved of in their milieu.
