Abstract

The programme deals with the political, geographic and social developments in Morocco between 1944 and 1952. The independence petition of January 11th, 1944 had an impact on Moroccans in different part of the kingdom. The demonstrations held in different areas and in major cities urged the colonizer to proceed to the integration of Morocco in the French Union. But the liberation hero, King Mohamed v, declared his rejection of all the french protection plans. In his famous speech during a visit to Tangiers, on April 9th, 1944, he insisted on the unity of Morocco and announced officially the right of the kingdom to independence.
