Tunisia is characterized by the cultivation of olive trees and the high quality of its olive oil .Olive trees cover the majority of Tunisia's forest areas. The industry depends on wood carvings from old olive trees, the older the olive tree, the more texture you will find in its wood ,this is why olive wood is rare and its value increases when it is manufactured into wooden antiques and utensils used in everyday life. The craftsman works and adds his artistic touch through sculpture and engravings on wood therefore, olive wood is converted into distinctive, rare and traditional products. The city of Sfax and the region of Monastir are known for their good quality in furniture and manufacturing olive wood products This traditional craft in Tunisia requires patience in polishing, engraving and carving wood . It is popular because of the scarcity of olive wood and the splendor of its artifacts .Type
