Abstract

Djerba is an island of 514 km2 located southeast of the Gulf of Gabes, south-east of Tunisia. It is the largest island of North Africa. The island is connected to the mainland, to the southwest by a ferry that links Ajim to Jorf, and southeast by a seven kilometers way, whose first construction dates back to the late third century BC., between the town of El Kantara and the peninsula of Zarzis. This first part of the documentary is devoted to historic and religious monuments of the city of Djerba and emphasizes the tolerance that exists between Jews, Muslims and Christians in this quiet island.
